The Wellingborough Kempo Karate Club system is a close quarters fighting art which apart from the basic punching, kicking and blocking techniques, also incorporates throws, wrist locks, strangle holds and ground fighting. The club also covers many forms of Kata (set patterns of movement) from the Gojo, Shoto Kan and Shito-ryu styles and train extensively for competition fighting, weapons training and self-defence. The club is a member of the B.I.K.O. Association and prides itself on its National and International recognition and the vast range of awards it has achieved in all the many age and weight categories of competition. Every member of the club has the opportunity to enter National and International competitions and attend courses around the country.
All the instructors of the club have attended the required coaching programmes and will continue to update on a regular basis, all senior grades are also First Aiders.
